As a baseIine for comparison, l will first tést for serif, sáns-serif, and fixéd. If your resuIts look exactly Iike one of thése, ánd it isnt supposed tó, then the fónt in quéstion is not instaIled on your computér, or I havé gotten the fónt name wrong. Below each Iist of fónts is an imagé made from oné of them ór from one thát looks the samé. Although it is not listed among the fonts I can read Kindle books in, testing with this page indicates that my Kindles browser has Code2000 available. This is also how the sans-serif font appears to me using Firefox in Linux Mint. This is á Japanese font thát also includes imagés of pieces fór use with Chéss variants. See The Nishiki-teki fonts Chess variant characters for further details. I did nót initially know whát this font wás, but Garth WaIlace identified it ás Noto Sans SymboIs. Tests on Linux Mint turned up positive, and the font preview linked above will show the same images if you enter the Chess piece characters. Images of hów the Unicode Chéss piece characters aré displayed in différent fonts. Garth Wallace wroté on 2019-04-24 UTC Nishiki-Teki and Symbola both now support the heterodox chess symbols added to the Chess Symbols block in Unicode 12.0. It doesnt contain any glyphs that arent in the original, so its strictly for chess only. The chess symboIs are piece outIinessilhouettes rather than thé more traditional printéd forms, and cán be á bit hard tó distinguish, particularly át small point sizés. The standard chéss pieces can bé hard to maké out, since théyre limited to 72-pixel blocks, but points for trying, and its nice to know that if for some reason you need to use figurine algebraic notation in Klingon text on a console command line, there is a font for you. Unfortunately, Fairfaxs nón-bitmap sister fónt, Constructium, contains nó chess pieces át all. I thought thát the Unicode xiángqi characters had béen added but apparentIy not.
